On Tuesday, 26th August 2008, I went for a routine check by with the oncologist, that I have been avoiding for some time because she was the doctor who was the harshest and did not want to pursue any course of action with the disease.
However, this time, she was optimistic, ordered a CT Scan (to see the progression of disease in the lungs) and booked for Chemotherapy.
My sister and I were very surprised because all the doctors said “nothing can be done”.
With Chemotherapy, there was 70% chance for the lung tumors to be decreased and only 15% miracle chance for the spine because of the numerous operations, three Chemotherapy regimens and one convention radiotherapy: 15% of a capillary reaching the spine to reduce and shrink the tumor.
The last Chemotherapy was in 2006.
When the CT scan results came back on Tuesday 2nd September, it showed reduction in the lung tumors and some tumors have disappeared.
God be praised. It is a miracle.
So I have started Chemotherapy on the 2nd September.
It is Carboplatin, a hour long infusion. Then I have one week off and go back to work for two weeks and Chemo on Tuesday of the third week. The cycle goes on for 3 cycles until review. If all is well, Dr. Soh will continue with the Chemotherapy for another 3 cycles.
The usual precautions of infections and since I have zero to minus immunity, students have to be mindful of not coming close with sniffles and coughs.
God be praised! My Life is a MIRACLE.
Love the G-Thing these miraculous times!
